The Wild Backyard

What’s this? A post that’s not about my balls for once? Even the big ol’ floppers need a rest sometimes. For whatever reason, animals really like visiting my backyard. During the day it’s pretty common for two cats to come visit which always yeowl and hiss at each other but never actually fight, in addition to your standard assortment of birds and squirrels.

At night, that’s when the raccoons come, tromping through the grass. At least I’m pretty certain their raccoons. I don’t often see the night time visitors but that’s what it sounds like.

It’s also not uncommon to hear squirrels and raccoons thumping on the roof as they run across it, back and forth.

I have my own cat, one that’s indoors-only. He’s fairly used to all the sounds so unless something happens to be making noise right outside the window, he tends to just ignore it at this point.

While I’m also familiar with the sounds it can still be interesting to be sitting on the edge of the bed late at night with all the lights off and the window open hearing the grass rustling as something fairly heavy moves through it.
